I like the idea of 3 at the back, but it needs specialist wing-backs. i.e. players who can drop back to form a back 5 when we are under pressure and who can get forward to provide width when we are attacking. Mario might be able to do it on the right and Clapham, Stan or Gray on the left, but I'm not sure that it would suit any of them as well as their normal position in a 4-4-2.

4-4-2 also gives more flexibility in the transfer market because you're looking for players to slot into standard roles, rather than having to find players who will suit a particular system.

Besides, Breucie seems pretty wedded to 4-4-2.

this has got to be the strongest squad ever assembled at st.andys, imo....the squad which included tf and the latchfords etc managed 10th one year in the old div 1, this lot could do MUCH better if they stay fit........bring it on i say ;)
